16 Months Old

Just some notes on Claire at 16 months:

-Finally weighs 20 pounds, 11 ounces. We are changing car seats this week! She still rides in her infant carrier.

-She is getting lots more hair. It is dark brown, and kind of curly.

-She loves to eat. Breakfast: Oatmeal, pancakes, biscuits, or fruit and yogurt are her favorites. She started throwing scrambled eggs in the floor this month. Lunch: She usually eats sweet potatoes, cheese, and a piece of fruit. She also likes grilled cheese, cheese quesadillas, and rice or pasta. Dinner: She eats whatever I fix for dinner. Favorites are baked chicken, spaghetti, rice, couscous, peas, carrots, green beans, rice. She does not really like any meat, with the exception of chicken. She only drinks water, and still loves Ritz Crackers.

-I am trying to figure out her new nap schedule. She is transitioning from 2 naps to 1, and we are still trying to get her figured out. Right now, she still needs a nap pretty early in the day, around 10 and sleeps until 12. The afternoon nap is hit or miss, but she likes to be in bed about 7:00 or 7:30, and most nights sleeps until 7:30 the next morning.

-She is hilarious, and is talking a ton! Some new things she says are: Batman, Lydia, Jill, Abby, Amy, Izzy, Emma, so cute, I want whee (that means I want down), I want Bo-gee (sweet potatoes)(not sure where that came from), I want snack, I want go (Let's go home), I want Jack/Mommy/ Daddy, and she still says "Hold me, Mama" many, many times per day. Also, Amen, Jesus, bath, and cow. There is probably more, but those are my favorites.

-She loves, loves music and dancing. She loves to be read to. She and Jackson have started fighting some this month. She hit him a couple of times, and we have been working on that.

That is all that is going on with Sissy this month. She is growing up, and we are enjoying every second with her. She is super laid back, and is just an easy baby. We love her to pieces!

3: 15 Month Check Up and Fun at Jack's Favorite Place

Claire at Dr. Wiley's Office.
Jackson wanted to go to Barnes and Noble after we left the doctor's office. I was nice enough to share my gift card with him. :) I can't say no when he wants book, and I think he secretly knows that. All cuddled up in his new reading chair. With his throw. Like mother (and father), like son.

On Tuesday, Claire had her 15 month check up. She weighed 19 pounds, 13 ounces (10th percentile), and was 28 1/4 in length (10th percentile. Her head was in the 75th percentile. She got a great report from the doctor. Her ears are even clear, for the first time since October. Dr. Wiley put her on Singulair a couple of weeks ago, and it seems to really be helping with the constant snot and cough.

She is so much fun! We love her so much. She is talking a ton, and loves to be held. All the time! I told my mother in law the other day that I needed to find a way to permanently attach her to my hip. She says, "Mommy, hold me," most anytime she is not in my arms. Other words she says are: Jack, Daddy, Nandee, Nana, Papa, Pop, Brad, Lady, dog, whoof, cat, wa-ee (water), yo-gi (yogurt), bitey (bite), paci, need a paci, book, eye, read, hey, banana, cookie, Away (singing Away in a Manger), Amen, cracker, wow, nite nite, bye bye, and her newest favorite, NO!!.

She is still not walking, but is pulling up and cruising around the furniture now. She has not taken any steps, yet. She is climbing alot, and we have to keep an extra eye on her. She is pretty fearless. Jackson was always, and still is, very cautious, and she is not.

The girl can eat! Her favorites are oatmeal, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, rice, pasta, applesauce, bananas, yogurt, cheese and grapes. She also loves Ritz Crackers, and will only drink water, and sometimes a little milk. She does not care for meat or juice, at all. She has a sweet tooth, too...loved my mom's chocolate pie she made New Year's Day. Also loves vanilla ice cream.

She loves to sing, dance, and be read to. She likes to play with Little People, and Jackson's cars and trains. We love her so much...I am enjoying every moment with them both, because it really is going by. Way. Too. Fast.

Sick Kiddos

We were doing really well with keeping up with our Advent calendar, and then Jackson and Claire both got sick, and life went on hold for a few days. Thankfully, everyone is feeling better. Jackson had a pretty rough sinus infection, and Claire had her worst ear infection, yet. She was pretty pitiful last week. She ran a high fever, and had some tummy troubles. Our pediatrician actually recommended at her last visit (last Tuesday) that we needed to take her to an ENT, and discuss getting tubes in her ears. She has had 6 ear infections in the last 8 months, each time in both ears (I think). She has also had fluid on her left ear since October. We have been praying that God would heal her little ears...and today, we went to the doctor, and both of her ears looked perfect, and the fluid was no longer on her left ear. Praise the Lord! We still go to the ENT next week, but I am hoping that we can hold off on doing anything for a while, if that is what is best for her.

A Party for Our Girl!

On Saturday, Blake and I hosted Claire's first birthday party! Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate our baby girl! We are so in love with our daughter, and are thankful for all of the wonderful people she has in her life. She is blessed! We thank God every single day for this precios gift He has given us!! We love you, Claire!

A very special thank you to my dear friends Robin, Leigh Ann, Veryll, my mom, Darla, Rick, Opem Brad and Aunt Lydia. Robin captured Claire's day on camera for us. Veryll made anything pink and purple that you see. I know if must have taken her hours to make everything, and it was perfect and precious! Lydia and Leigh Ann helped clean up. My mom and Darla helped with food and cleaning, and of course Opem Brad: Resourceful Fireman Extraordinare. Thank you for salvaging the balloons from the ceiling. Rick, thank you for the creative cupcakes to make the centerpieces for the table....It really does take a village.

Claire and her Paci(s)

Claire is slightly obsessed with her pacifier...last week, I could not find any, so I bought a new pack at Publix, assuming we had just lost the others. After that pack disappeared within a few days, I began to wonder where all of our pacifiers were going, and was kind of getting tired of looking for one every time she was ready to go to sleep...well, I pulled out her crib from the wall, and that little stinker has been dropping them behind her crib. I found a total of 7 when the hunt was complete.

A Day at the Museum with Jack and Claire

Jackson woke up Wednesday and requested a trip to the Museum. We did not really have any other plans, so we all got dressed and headed downtown for the day. He really liked the "Bob the Builder" exhibit, so we spent much of our morning upstairs. Claire enjoyed "The Little Yellow House." This was her first trip where she was old enough to really get out of her stroller and enjoy. We such a fun time...the only minor catastrophe happened while we were walking back to our car...Claire's blankie fell out of the stroller...I realized it when we were almost back to the car...we parked several blocks away....luckily, it was still laying on the sidewalk. I am not sure who would have been more upset, Claire or her mama. She loves that blankie.

I really enjoyed my time with Jackson on Wednesday. He is becoming such a little boy. So curious. Always asking questions. He wonders why things work the way they do. He is growing up, and I love the little guy he is becoming.
