The Reception

Yummy cake. First dance. Groom's cake from The Cake Gallery. Sweet family. Close friends. Just Married written on the back glass. Nathan says, "It is finally over." Blake's response. "This is only the beginning." Cheers to the beginning. Nathan and Jill: Have fun in Jamaica. We love you!!

The Wedding

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Ricks! Nathan and Jill became officially married Saturday, September 19, and 6:00 p.m. The ceremony was very sweet, and Jill looked like a princess.

Jill and Nathan's Rehearsal Dinner

My Ninja turtle loving, sweat pant wearing, green vegetable hating, cereal eating, tuba playing, Nintendo extraordinaire, Ernest Goes to Camp watching, little brother got married yesterday. Blake and I were both honored to be part of their special day, as a bridesmaid and groomsman. They were married at Calvary Baptist Church, and the rehearsal dinner and reception were both held at a pavilion near the river. The rehearsal dinner was catered by an Italian restaurant, and it was delicious. My brother truly looked the happiest I have ever seen him.

Upon arrival, Nathan was presented with "Knight in Shining Armor" attire. Jill has carrying her faux bouquet made of bows from the gifts she received at her bridal showers.

The bridal party decorated the bride and groom with silly sing during a wedding party photo shot.

The groomsmen gifts were personalized glass mugs with Vol shirts inside. My Bama lovin' family just LOVED that.

Our First Date

(We don't have a scanner, forgive this incredible photo op, of sorts).

Our First Date: September 15, 2000

Location: Station House Restaurant, followed by Clumpie's Ice Cream and Stroll on the Walnut Street Bridge
Event: Phi Beta Chi Fall Formal Event
I knew he was the one when he sent flowers the weekend following our date. He didn't tell me his family owned a florist until weeks later, for fear of me thinking he had received a discount.
We look like such babies!

This picture was taken before:
-we had our teaching license (maybe that is why we look so young!)
-we graduated from UTC
-we had our "big kid" jobs
-we had car payments
-Blake had bought an engagement ring and rehearsed a proposal
-the real "Big Day," to follow 4 years later
-we paid rent, and later a mortgage
-I had a domestic bone in my body
-that dress became too tight :)
-this guy

"Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare."
Psalm 40:5

More Home Organization

Bathroom Update: I have swapped out all the decor, and we have selected a paint color. Cameo is the name. I have a feeling that this will become a Fall Break project.

Just Jackson

I am not sure that I can make this little blurb quite as funny as it really was...but...Jackson LOVES Sesame Street, Elmo in particular. He watches Elmo Loves You (DVD) several times per week, and Sesame Street most mornings that we are at home (Shhh...don't tell the American Academy of Pediatrics). Do you remember the Count (think Number of the Day) from your childhood, or child rearing days? On Sesame Street and the DVD, the count says..one (ah, ah, ah), two (ah, ah, ah), three (ah, ah, ah)....you get the idea. This led to this interaction between Jackson and I yesterday...

Setting: Jackson's Room, playing with blocks

Me: Jackson, how many blocks do I have?
Jackson: One
Me (getting another block to stack): Good, what comes after one?
Jackson: Ah, ah, ah

Seriously, it was funny. Maybe you just had to be there.
