It's a....GIRL!

On Thursday, I had an appointment for "The Big Ultrasound," and an appointment to see my doctor. Before I became pregnant with Jackson, I just thought the doctor was doing a planning favor for the family by letting them know the gender of the baby, but I know now that this is a very important picture of all of the anatomy of your baby, to check and make sure that everything is healthy, and developing normally. Blake and I have been praying, since before we even found out we were pregnant, that our baby would be healthy, and God answered our prayer!

We got to the doctor's office about 8:30 (because I just had to be the first appointment), and at the last minute decided to take Jackson with us to the appointment, so he could see what is going on with our little family. We got called back to the ultrasound room about 9:00, and had the best ultrasound tech I have ever seen! She scanned, and scanned, and scanned. And explained every single thing she was doing. She scanned the heart and brain, and took TONS of pictures...at one point, I even asked her if everything was okay. She explained that she used to work at a high risk practice that dealt with prenatal heart defects at Vanderbuilt (I think), and she was just doing the protocol for the work she used to do before coming to the practice I go to. She assured us our baby looked just perfect.

Blake and I had seriously considered not finding out the gender of our baby, as I know it would have been so exciting to wait and find out when the baby was born. In the end, we just couldn't wait. So for a couple of personal reasons, we decided to find out. Jackson has been saying for months he was getting a baby sister, and Blake and I were pretty convinced that Jackson was going to get a baby brother....but Jackson was right.....he is getting a baby sister!! I shot up off the ultrasound table, and said, "WHAT??" and Blake (he is so Type A), goes a little bit crazy...thinking about weddings, prom dresses, dates, and frilly, pink tutus. The ultrasound tech actually asked him if he was going to be okay. Tears started streaming down my cheeks, so excited about this sweet baby girl that we are going to welcome into our family this Fall.

I then went back to Dr. Childs area of the office for a weight check, and blood pressure check. I have gained 1 pound this pregnancy, and my blood pressure is normal. We went into his office, and he looked over my file, and said everything looked great with Baby Girl. We then discussed some blood sugar concerns, and a couple of other things I wanted to discuss with him. Still watching all the carbs...and I got a pat on the back for the 1 pound weight gain in 18 weeks!

To celebrate, the three of us went to Starbucks and had a nice breakfast, before Blake went back to work (wearing a pink neck tie). I, then, headed to Hamilton Place with Robin and Ben! I purchased several pink items, including a pink tutu. And I bought Jackson, Rosie (a pink train from Thomas and Friends).

It was fun sharing our news with everyone. We let Jackson tell his grandparents, and everyone seems to be excited. She is already acquiring quite the wardrobe, and someone (I suspect my sweet neighbors across the street), put a vase of pink roses on our porch Thursday night. God is so faithful to our family, and continues to pour out unspeakable JOY into our lives. We love you, sweet baby GIRL!

"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:14

So happy you get to experience having a girl!! It will definitely be more drama but so much fun too. Like I told you already, you'll automatically be drawn to the girl side of Gymboree. HA! I'll always go to the girl section first. :)
