Fun at the Zoo

Jackson's school offers Stay Day on Tuesdays, which means they have the option to stay and play on the playground and eat lunch until 2:00. He has never wanted to stay before, but decided he wanted to stay on Tuesday. I am sure it had nothing to do with his buddy Cheng Yu staying. Ha!

While he was at preschool, Claire and I met my friend Amy and her daughters, Kenzi and Livi, at the zoo.

Claire liked the ducks and coyote, which she referred to as a dog. Mostly, she liked the playground.

We left the zoo, and met Blake at Taco Mamacita for lunch. He didn't have students on Tuesday, so that was a nice treat. I have never been there to eat and it was so delicious!! After that, we made a little Target trip and it was time to pick up the Jack-Man! We missed him, but he was having a great time, too!

Jackson's Valentine Party at School

Today was Jackson's Valentine Party at school. He really had fun, even though that last mother/son picture does not appear that way! He did not want his picture taken. His little class exchanged valentines and had a special snack today. Love this little boy!!

Preschool Fun: Phase In Day

Jackson had a phase in day at preschool on Thursday. He stayed two hours, and I think he really liked it. This is his first time in a group setting, other than church, so it may take him a little while to get used to it. His teachers are really sweet, and his classroom has a lot of different things for the children to explore the things that interest them....I think he is going to have a great year. This pic is out of order...but, he had this gear on (again) about half a second after we arrived.
All ready for school. He packed his Bible in his school bag...I asked him why..his reply: "Mommy, we don't know if these people know Jesus."
Mommy may have had a moment to herself at Starbucks (and Target and T.J. Maxx) during the phase in festivities. Claire was at "Nana's Day Out" with Izzy having some serious cuddle time.

All of the Amigos seemed to be happy when we picked them up.

I put them both a new book in their car seat for after school. We start our regular school schedule this week. Yay for Preschool!

Jack's First Day of Preschool

Thursday, Jackson went to Visitation Day at his preschool. He got to meet his teachers and explore his classroom, as well as the music room, art room, and playground. His best buddies are also in his class. I know he is going to have a wonderful year, and learn lots of new things.

3: First Cardio Workout and A New Book

Today, I did my first cardio workout....in my neighborhood. I hope I can get out of bed in the morning...

I also started doing morning devotion time with Jackson (and Claire, too). We are using The Jesus Story Book Bible.http://www.jesusstorybookbible.com I won it in a blog give away at The Happy Brown House (see sidebar) last year. I LOVE this book. Today we talked about all of the places that God shows His love to us. One thing I also like about this book is how the scripture is paraphrased so that it is easy for little ones to listen to, and understand.

"The Heavens are singing
about how great God is;
and the skies are shouting it out,
"See what God has made!"
Day after day...Night after night...
They are speaking to us.
Psalm 19:1-2 (paraphrase)

Shining Light

Today, I was doing a nativity puzzle with Jackson. (http://confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com/)
He was asking some great questions about Jesus' birth...
My intention was to get a shot of those chubby hands gluing down hay on the manger...Instead..I got this super cool shot.
Do you see the light? My sweet, baby Jesus.
"I am the light of the world." John 9:5

Sweet Smells of Christmas and Smiley Girly

This is one of my favorite Christmas books from my childhood. And Blake's too. It is a scented storybook about all of the different smells of the season (Christmas tree, apple pie, candy cane, a Christmas orange, hot cocoa, and a few others). We have read it to Jackson the past several days....so when I ran across a recipe for Teddy Bear Muffins in a Publix magazine a few weeks ago, I thought Jackson might enjoy making them....and he did! Claire thought it was pretty fun, too. They were much tastier (and prettier) than the disastrous birthday cake from a few weeks ago.
