The Zoo (Again)

The other day we met the Coffmans at the zoo. The boys played superheros on the playground forever, and we had a nice picnic. I can't wait to try the splash park this summer. We haven't been yet, and it looks super fun! Not too much longer until sweet summer time!

Happy Birthday, Izzy!

Tonight we went to Izzy's first birthday party. When I started babysitting her, she was 3 or 4 months old! She is growing up, and she and Claire are becoming buddies! Happy Birthday, sweet Izzy!

Salsaritas, Sour Cream, and Starbucks

Last night, we met our friends Dewayne and Melissa for dinner at Salsaritas. Blake and I have never been there before, and it was really good. It kind of reminded me of Moe's, and I actually liked it better. I had chicken nachos. Blake ordered a steak quesadilla, and we planned on Claire just munching off our plates, and I had packed her a few things, too. Sister devoured my nachos! She kept dipping the chips in the guacamole and sour cream, and then proceeded to lick the sour cream ramekin clean.

Love these two! They are growing up way too fast!

We were heading to try the new frozen yogurt place at Hamilton Place (Menchie's), but it was very crowded, and I was unsure if my posse could handle it, so we headed to Barnes and Noble. It was pouring rain, and my resourceful hubby found a way to stay dry.

And, look who loves some Starbucks like their mama?

Sunday Snapshots: Fun on the Farm Edition

After church today, we went to Old McDonald's Farm, which is actually just a few miles from our house. It was perfect! They had inflatables horses for the children to ride, a corn crib, a slide, hay maze, a petting zoo, a "Calf-A" with snacks (so clever). We also went on a hay ride, and everyone got to pick a pumpkin. We had a blast!!

The other night we took Jack to the park to ride his bike...we go there often, because we have found a secret place that is (in our opinion) the best place! We let him ride in either the basketball or tennis court area at the helicopter park. It is completely fenced in (no cars) and there is hardly ever anyone else there. So, Jack can ride around in a large, open space with no worries of cars or getting to close to the street.

1) I am down 16 pounds. :)

2) I have started planning Claire's birthday party. I can not believe she is going to be ONE next month!

3) Jack went to the dentist this week: great report, no cavities.

4) I made my first trip to Goodwill (Claire Wood, you would have been so proud of me!). Jackson wanted a detective costume, basically, an oversized kid's suit jacket. I found one for $5.99. I got to the check out, and it was on clearance. $2.99. Score.

5) I got Claire an ADORABLE swimsuit for next summer at Target. $2.50. Score again.

Blake, there is no denying her. I think she is your mini me.

I have been reading Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson, as recommended by my sweet friend, Jenna. I am about halfway through the book, and have loved, loved every chapter. She talks so much about the influence of a mother in a home. Often the mother's attitude can control the atmosphere of the home...I have had that on my heart, and have thought about it often the past couple of weeks. I really do want to embrace my role as a wife and mother, and give it all I have for the glory of Him. I love when God reaffirms what has been in your heart in different ways...

This morning I was reading my devotion, and was reading about the disciples and different things Jesus asked them to do. Some of the requests made sense to the disciples, others did not. The disciples grumbled about some things they were asked to do, others they did willingly. Some things He asked them to do....the disciples did not understand the relevance of significance of them at all. They did not know if what He asked them to do even really mattered.

I love what Beth Moore said when she was talking about the disciples and paralleling it to our lives.

"We have no idea as to the significance of the work God called us to do."

"Christ's ultimate goal in any work He assigns to us is to reveal Himself, either through us or to us."

"The tasks God gives you are never trivial."

Road Trip: Time with my BFF

A week or so ago, we took a road trip to see Tiffany and her family. We had a great time as always. I went to a whole foods class that her play group was having at her house. It was alot of good information about healthy eating, and about eating the foods God has given us to eat. We are slowly incoorporating some of these things into our family's diet. Our babies had a BLAST playing together. So awesome to see your children making memories with the person who has known you practically your entire life.
