The Grand Finale Doctor Visit

Today was my final doctor visit! I gained a pound this week (for a grand total of 17 pounds...I gained 30 with Jackson, so hip hip hooray), and my blood pressure was 112/78. The nurse checked Claire's heart rate and it was 110 BPM, and it was been in the 140s at almost every visit, so they hooked me up to the monitor for about 15 minutes, just to make sure she was still doing okay. After they got me all hooked up, she started moving around, and it was back up to where it normally is. I was still dilated 3 cm. We had a nice conversation with our doctor about some questions and concerns about Thursday, and headed over to the lab at the hospital to have some blood work done. So...two more days until we meet our girl. Please pray for our family during this exciting time. Pray for Madeline Claire as she transitions into this world. We can't wait to meet her!

37 Weeks, 1 Day Doctor Visit

Today, we had our final ultrasound of Baby Claire. She looks fabulous...she got an A+ on her biophysical profile. Her estimated weight is around 7 pounds, 5 ounces. That can be off by as much as one pound, either way. My blood pressure was 120/70, and I didn't gain any weight this week. I am still dilated 3 centimeters, and my blood sugar levels are all fine. We go back on Monday for our final check up, and will be holding our baby girl in just 10 days!

36 Week, 1 Day Doctor Visit

Yesterday, we went to our weekly doctor visit. I also had another Fetal Non Stress Test. Baby Claire's heart rate looks beautiful, and I am having some mild contractions. I am dilated 3 centimeters. My blood pressure was 116/72 (I think, I never can remember that number for some reason), and my weight stayed the same. My doctor looked at my glucose log, and I am now only having to test my blood sugar in the mornings when I wake up, or if I try a new food, that I have not eaten thus far. I pretty much eat the same old thing every day, and know what triggers an increase, and that I need to eat every two hours, so I get to give my fingertips a break! As of right now, we have a c-section scheduled for Thursday, October 14. Please keep us in your prayers. We go back to the doctor on Monday for our next appointment and another ultrasound.

This Week's Doctor Visit: 35 Weeks, 2 Days

I went to see Dr. Childs on Tuesday this week. He wasn't there, so I saw Kay, the nurse practitioner. My weight stayed the same this week, and my blood pressure was 106/72. I had another ultrasound and fetal non stress test. Everything looks great. I go back on Monday for another check!

34 Weeks, 4 Days Doctor Visit

On Thursday, we had another doctor's appointment and ultrasound. Baby Claire is doing just fine! She weighs approximately 5 pounds, 15 ounces. My blood pressure was 106/72, I think. I gained 1 pound this week. I am dilated 2 centimeters....we go back again Thursday for a doctor visit to see what is happening with The Little Miss! I think I will pack my hospital bag this weekend, and get the swing and Baby Papasan out of storage! I can't believe that there is going to be a baby at my house in a month!! Keep us in your prayers, please!

33 Weeks, 4 Days Doctor Visit

Today, Blake and I continued our Thursday tradition...a visit to the doctor! We didn't have to wait very long today, since we had a morning appointment, and that was very nice. My blood pressure was 110/70 and I lost another pound this week. He looked over all of my blood sugar levels, and said they looked perfect, just to make sure I was drinking enough water.

We also had the Fetal Non Stress Test this morning. I was hooked up to two monitors for about 30 minutes, and everything looked great with Baby Girl.

I am supposed to continue taking my blood sugar 2 hours after every meal, and in the mornings. We go back to the doctor in 1 week, and are also scheduled for another ultrasound.

In other news, Blake is going to pick up the crib and changing table after he gets off work tomorrow. I am sooo excited! I really want to start getting things put away, and get her room somewhat ready for her. I know she probably won't be sleeping in there for a while, but it will make me feel better, anyway! Have a great weekend!

32 Weeks, 4 Days Doctor Visit

My doctor's visit went great today. We had an ultrasound today, and Miss Claire is measuring right on track. She weighed an estimated 4 pounds, 9 ounces, and her heart rate was in the 130s. We got a really cute picture of her face...precious! My blood pressure was 116/78, and I lost 2 pounds this week. My blood sugars all looked great. We are doing the Fetal Non Stress Test next week...I must have misunderstood him last week...I thought we were doing it today. After my appointment, Blake and I went on a date, and had a great time. He is planning to move the piano and finish painting the nursery over the long weekend....so stay tuned for updates!

31 Weeks, 4 Days Doctor Visit

Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment...the first visit since I the sugar test results came in. My levels look fantastic and my food log looked perfect. Yay! I gained 2 pounds since my last visit, so far I am up 19 pounds, I think. My blood pressure was 116/78. We had a discussion about the protocol for babies born to mommies with diabetes/gestational diabetes, and how he would continue to monitor her size closely. We go back in one week, next Thursday, for an ultrasound and Fetal Non-Stress Test. Please continue to keep Baby Claire and her Mommy in your prayers!

31 Weeks

Ms. Claire is continuing to grow, kick, and hiccup like crazy! My blood sugars are doing really great. I have had only two high readings...I ate half a sandwich on wheat bread at one meal, and 4 wheat peanut butter crackers for a snack...and both readings were high. Very strange. Instead of trying to figure out what caused it, I think I will just say adios to both items for the next couple of months. On the bright side (perhaps the highlight of my week), is that I can eat 8 Chik Fil A nuggets, 1 pack of Chik Fil a Sauce, a fruit cup, and a Diet Coke, and my sugar is in the normal range! I am so thankful that, so far, my sugar has been so easy to control. I guess since I have done this before, other than it being a nuisance, it hasn't been too big of a deal.

Ode to Starbucks

Dear Starbucks,
It is going to be a long 10 weeks without you. I so enjoy rolling through the drive thru window and partaking in your sweet goodness after a day of grocery shopping and running errands. I look forward to seeing you every Friday, and sometimes on our occasional midweek visit. But, you remember the drill from about 2.5 years ago, so I will see you again with Baby Claire in the backseat. No more sweet treats for a while....gotta keep me and my girl healthy.
Love,
Alisha
In case you are wondering, I failed (bombed) my glucose test. I have gestational diabetes again....I start testing 4 times per day today. I am praying it will be as easy to keep under control as it was with Jackson. Please pray that it is, too! (And you might want to sneak Blake and Jackson a sweet treat every once in a while. I found Blake's ice cream bowl in the sink this morning...he was so sweet to sneak while I was sleeping!)
