Because School Starts in 38 Days!!

I saw this idea on Pinterest...Lego Sensory activity.  I adapted it for us...basically pour all the Legos in a bucket of water.  Add Dawn soap, and do whatever you will.  I added some other kitchen tools for water play.  We added some ice.  Claire was concerned that the ice went away, so we had some conversation about ice melting in warm water.  They both LOVED this...and the Legos are disinfected!

My parents had a bunch of old electronics, etc. at their house and we asked if we could have them for Jackson to take apart.  He worked on taking this phone apart today.  There were all kids of magnets and cool looking parts.  He said he is taking all the parts and making a pumpkin machine tomorrow!  We shall see.

We also played some baseball tonight.  Jackson was very patient and showed Claire how to hit!

And Claire LOVES to catch fireflies at night.  It seems there are more this summer than I remember in the past.  Or maybe I just notice them more because of Claire's obsession with them.

I didn't make a summer bucket list this year like I did last year.  But, that doesn't mean we are not being very intentional with our time together!  This summer, I didn't want to make every day a major event...but, I desire lots of special time doing the ordinary.  Blake and I also want to eliminate the words "Hurry Up" from our vocabulary.  I feel like Jack and Claire hear that all the time!  "Hurry, clean your room.  Hurry, make your bed.  Hurry up, brush your teeth, get dressed.  Hurry up and eat your breakfast...Hurry up, get in the car."

Blake is taking off the rest of the week!  We are sooo excited.  We have several projects around our house to do, and just want to enjoy having everyone at HOME!

Father's Day 2014

We had a fun time celebrating Blake Father's Day weekend.  On Sunday, we went to church and celebrated each of our dads, so we made Saturday our special time with Blake.  A few weeks ago, Blake's favorite shoes (his Chaco's) broke.  We bought them the first summer we were married, so he obviously got his money worth!  Jackson wanted to replace his daddy's shoes since he knew how much Blake's shoes were loved.  Claire and I went shopping for shoes for Blake, and Jackson and Blake had father/son time.  They went on a nice long walk and bike ride together.  After gift giving, we took Blake out to a lunch of his choice.  We went to Cheddars.  For dessert, he picked Krispy Kreme.  We hung out as a family for the rest of day.  Blake really just wants quality time for Father's Day, and I hope it was just that!  We love this man!  He is a wonderful father to Jackson and Claire, and a great husband to me....he cleans out the car, unloads this dishwasher, vacuums, helps with dinner, prays with our kids, reads the Bible to us, and handles bath time at night.  He works so hard to make sure our needs are met.  We are thankful for Blake!

Kindergarten Graduation!!

Our boy finished Kindergarten this year!!  I am so proud of him!!  We had a little graduation ceremony for the kids at church that finished kindergarten, and it was really cute.  Our pastor interviewed each of the graduates, and it was their answers were really cute.  Jackson didn't like being on stage, though, and didn't like being interviewed.  Poor boy was shaking and about to cry!  We are first grade ready!  Summer time is here!

Claira Beara Makes Cupcakes

Wednesday, I made cupcakes for the Faithgirlz class at church.  Claire wanted to help me.  (She can't see what I doing on the counter with a stool...hence the reason she is seated on the counter).  I am a germ phobe in the kitchen, so rest assured the counters were cleaned. :)  Anyway, she had a fun time helping me bake.  She calls any type of paper that is trash "paper trash."  While we were baking, she asked if she could put the paper trash in the pan.  She was asking about the cupcake liners.  I thought that was too cute!  Love her so much!

And now I am 34.....

I turned 34 on May 17!  That is pretty crazy!! Forward March to 35!!

Last Day of Kindergarten

We declared Friday our last day of Kindergarten!  Since we actually started school the last week of July, I think we are officially finished with school for the summer.  However, we will continue reading lots of books and writing during our summer break!  We think we have made our decision for school next year, and are feeling good about it.  We have had the absolute best time this year.  I am so proud of this boy!  Sappy post with more kindergarten pics to follow!
